A hyperactive adept of slow food, Alix Lacloche is no stranger to contradictions. Avante-garde, yet with her feet firmly planted in the present, she who was once in the spotlight at Canal+ now works behind the scenes at the biggest fashion shows. Self-taught but with a long résumé, she has reinvented the old-fashioned business of event catering with panache. Serving canapés on catwalks, she wields the art of the buffet and creates custom menus for the hottest designers. Meet a caterer who cares.
COULD YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF?
Hello, my name is Alix Lacloche, I’m thirty-six years old. I grew up in Paris and I like cooking and setting up buffet tables.
COULD YOU TELL US BRIEFLY ABOUT YOUR CAREER?
I began cooking professionally right after high school. It was a three month stay in Rome in 2009 that made me want to to cook with high-quality seasonal produce. And create beautiful buffets. I lived in San Francisco for two years to learn from an incredible chef: Amaryll Schwertner. In 2012, I started my own business. I translate the image of a brand through cooking and the art of entertaining and decorating table settings.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT PARIS?
I adore the independent, neighborhood shops, local artisans; bakeries, pastry shops, charcuteries, cheese makers, chocolate shops, spice merchants, small grocery stores, and especially having my coffee alone on a café terrace when I wake up.
