Symon

Symon is so in love with Paris that he dedicated a song to the city. Born into a family of musicians, he didn’t, however, plan to make music. But his guitar pulled him back in, and today he mixes his eastern influences into a modern pop with well-crafted lyrics. Meet a man with the Mediterranean in his veins and Paris under his skin.

COULD YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF?

My name is Symon and I’m a singer-songwriter. I play guitar and bass. I was born in Paris and live there; I grew up between Paris’s 14th arrondissement and Belleville. I come from a family of artists and I’ve always been surrounded by music. Outside of music, I love film, painting, and soccer.

COULD YOU TELL US BRIEFLY ABOUT YOUR CAREER?

I was studying art history in Paris when music started playing an increasingly bigger role in my life. One thing lead to another, and I met people in the business, including Antis, who was in a rock band with me when I was fifteen. I then started doing a lot of nocturnal studio sessions and performing live, and being on stage was truly a revelation..

WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT PARIS?

In Paris I like to stroll, I like walking from one neighborhood to another, and what strikes me most is the change in ambiance when you go from one street to another; each neighborhood has its own codes and its own ambiance; I find it more striking here than in other capital cities. I really love going to the movies and to museums. On the whole, I love taking advantage of the cultural life we’re lucky to have here. I also like the nightlife; I go out quite a bit, often in Pigalle, which is one of my favorite neighborhoods.
